Directly after the end of the Second World War the public started to feel that the world’s essential ethical foundations are simple and coherent . Both politics and social relations were depending on the concepts of progress , beneficial change , confidence in science , enlightenment , hi-tech progress , and the potential to explain any phenomenon from a rational standpoint . However , starting from the second half of the 60’s, the world began to deteriorate and currently , 40 years later , we find ourselves in a transformed type of actuality .
We easily spot those advancements which are given us by new technology, but we rarely comprehend the fact that there are concrete thoughts which the author has put behind those technological solutions. The core of the expected adjustment was at first noticed by those people, who more often than not lived ahead of their time – philosophers and authors. Among the many authors whose books have served for entertainment , there have been several of them who have given the humankind a new vision . They have more effectively than others other people molded and formulated authentic suggestions and have in the end done a brand new intellectual and emotional analysis of the future. They have noted problems in the mundane of our lives and have unveiled a number of problems, which were dragging on without being noted . Finally they were voicing the main issue “How will we live in the world of future?”

In this work we will specify some of the most prominent writers of the 20th century. They have all greatly influenced literature of their time, have revealed tendencies and problems which were typical to their nations and the period of time they were living in, and have motivated the audience meditate on the actual ideology of moral, having them realize that it is far from being genuine. One of the most exciting angle of their work is that in most cases they have awake the person’s attention in books and written matter. in this case one of the most interesting success stories is that of a brilliant writer John Cheever.

The achievement of Joan Rowling can be called special as she has become the first author in the world to make $1 billion by publishing fairytales. She is now spending a great part of her profit on charity, battling poverty and illness. The idea of the book was created while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first agreed to publish her book, she has given her 1500 pounds together with a friendly piece of advice — to look for a stable job. He was hesitant of the fact that the young author would be able to make money of writing. Joann has demonstrated the opposite - having written a series of exceptional fairytales, she has motivated the so-called non-reading people get back to reading.

This paper is not able to name and more or less accurately list all authors who have given their gift to the today’s literature. They have been writing and putting ideas exactly into the minds of the people, and in this way were influencing the future. Thus, as we can see, these writers were not writing for entertainment only, but they were also playing a considerable part in molding the culture and the perception of a society of the 20th century.
